Introducing Seeds of Movement, a Training for Minnesota's Emerging Environmental Justice Leaders
Seeds of Movement (SOM) is a multi-day intensive program that provides training across two weekends for community members to strengthen their environmental consciousness as well as their communication and advocacy skills. SOM works with participants to leverage their lived experiences to advocate and organize for a more just and healthy city.
Participants will engage in six day-long sessions with community organizers, artists, and leaders.
Time Commitment
Seeds of Movement runs over 2-weekends in August. The cohort meets for day-long learning sessions consisting of popular education workshops, group sharing opportunities, and learning and networking with organizers, artists, and leaders.
Week 1: Friday, August 14 - Sunday, August 16
Week 1 will focus on grounding participants in the history, principles, and current landscape of social movements and environmental justice through popular education, centering collective knowledge, lived experience, and critical reflection to build a shared purpose and political grounding.
Week 2: Friday, August 21 - Sunday, August 23
Week 2 will help participants develop practical skills to advance this work, including fundraising, shaping transformative narratives, building and leading campaigns, navigating conflict with integrity, and forging resilient, community-led coalitions.
